Kamar Miguel Smith (born April 17, 2010) is an Jamaican-American youth soccer player who plays as a Central Attacking Midfielder and Striker for the Parkland SC Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) boys team. Known for his technical versatility, playmaking, and dual-foot striking power, Smith has drawn early attention within youth soccer circuits, including being featured in national Jamaican media as a top-tier prospect.

 

Early Life and Heritage

 

Smith was born in Coral Springs, Florida, and raised in the South Florida area, primarily utilizing facilities in Coral Springs, Margate, and North Lauderdale. He is of Jamaican descent; his father, hails from Duhaney Park in Kingston, Jamaica, and his mother, Karla Williamson, is Florida born Jamaican-American. Smith began playing recreational soccer at the age of four in the North Lauderdale City Recreational League. His early athletic development was heavily influenced by regular visits to Jamaica, where he frequently trained with local youth players in Kingston.

 

Youth Career

 

Parkland SC (Early Years)

At age seven, Smith transitioned from recreational soccer to competitive club soccer, joining the Parkland Soccer Club’s U9 team under the guidance of Coach Paulo. He remained with the club through the U13 level. During his U11 season (spanning 2020–2021) under Coach Jona Andrade, Smith emerged as a high-volume goal scorer, he led Parkland SC to a Weston Cup championship, scoring seven of the team’s eight total goals during the tournament run.

 

FC Prime

For the 2023–2024 season, Smith transferred to FC Prime to compete at the U14 tier. He credited his single-season stint at the club as an important period for tactical maturity and adaptation to highly physical, competitive defensive structures. “While I was there we won the Plantation Cup and we were a Copa Miami Finalist.”

 

Return to Parkland SC ECNL

In 2024, Smith returned to Parkland SC to compete in the ECNL boys division. Serving as a primary offensive catalyst alternating between a number 10 (attacking midfielder) and number 9 (striker) role, he is known to deliver crucial goals and key assists. He also represented the club during the ECNL national playoffs, registering an assist across three matches.

 

International Exposure and Elite Tournaments

 

Manchester City Camp:

In 2020, at the age of 11, Smith was travelled to England for elite development with Manchester City. The sessions exposed him to European academy training methodologies, standard fitness benchmarks, and interactions with first-team technical staff and senior players.

 

Caribbean Tours:

In 2023, Smith traveled to Jamaica with the GTAS Soccer Club. During the international tour, his squad competed against prominent schoolboy football programs on the island, including friendly fixtures against Jamaica College and Kingston College.

 

MIC Football Cup:

In 2025, Smith traveled to Catalonia, Spain, to compete in the Mediterranean International Cup (MIC Football), a prestigious global youth tournament. Competing against international academy fields, he recorded one goal and one assist during the tournament run.

 

Jamaica Football Federation:

Smith has competed at multiple Jamaica Football Federation JFF camps, all in hopes of one day living his dream as a Reggae Boy.

 

High School Career

 

Smith attends Abundant Life Christian Academy in Florida, where he is a dual-sport varsity athlete in soccer and track and field.

 

Soccer

Over two seasons of varsity soccer, Smith has accumulated 8 goals and 10 assists, playing against competitive regional programs such as Westminster Academy and Mater Lakes Academy. In his sophomore campaign, he helped lead Abundant Life to the district/regional semifinal stage, which concluded in a narrow 1–0 defeat to Lake Worth Christian.

 

Track and Field

During his 10th-grade year, Smith joined the varsity track team to enhance his physical profile for soccer. He competed across multiple distances, including the 100-meter, 200-meter, 400-meter, and 800-meter sprints. He specialized primarily in the 400-meter dash, leveraging the event to build elite box-to-box speed endurance.
